Wow ... it's been 3 years since I've been here

Holy Crow! It's been three years since I've been here to my blog. In that time, I've had my oldest graduate from high school and turn 18, my youngest turned 6 over the summer, and is now in First Grade. My 12 yo is now in the Seventh grade in MIDDLE school and I have a 10yo in Fifth Grade. He'll be in middle school next year. *sobs* They are all growing up and getting big. I'm getting so old.

I've been crocheting, loom knitting, sewing and crafting up a storm in the last three years. I'll try and get pictures and separate posts up soon. I've got a new computer. I've payed forward my old computer to another single mom.

My divorce was final 3 years ago, and I'm still single and happy about it. :o) He's remarried (she's an idiot) but he's not my problem any more .. now he's her problem ~laughs~

Oh yes .. before I forget ... I taught myself to KNIT with NEEDLES!! Yay Me! ~claps~ Wow, I sound just like London Tipton on The Suite Life ~shakes head~ such is the life of a mom with pre-teens I suppose.

Okay, time to get up from here and finish vacuuming before the day gets away from me.

~hugs~

I'm horrible at journaling

ACK ... I'm really, really horrible at keeping a journal up to date. Most of the time I forget I even have a journal .. and when I do remember, I think, "Ok, I need to make an entry today" and then I let life (and procrastination) get in the way.
Three weeks ago, my aging computer finally bit the dust. The hard drive gave up the ghost, so to speak. So I was off line for quite a while .. let me tell you, I was going insane without being able to check on things over at the 'Ville, use the local bus website, check on Joann's site... etc. You should have seen me, it was pathetic ... I would wake up in the mornings, go over to the computer, turn it on and pray really hard that the thing would boot up and not blue screen me. But no such luck. (heavy sigh) I didn't know what I was going to do, as I could not afford a new computer, and upgrading was out of the question ... would be cheaper to buy new. Then my best friend called me, she was getting a new computer from her husband, and did I want her old one? I could have cried from joy (if I cried lol). A week later, she had her new pc, and I was bringing my new-to-me baby home!
While I was off line .. I managed to crochet quite a bit ... here are a few of the things I made while gone ... Lots of Halloween decorations, a few toys for the children, a few afghans for family and friends new babies, a pentacle rug for myself (At the bottom) and I started crocheting for Christmas gifts ... not going to post those pics as I don't know if the recipients read my blog LOL. And I started an afghan for my children to take to school in February for the fund-raiser auction. That is going to be the snowflake afghan from the Art of Tangle website. I'll post some pictures of that as soon as I get more blocks done.

sorry I haven't posted in a while

sorry I haven't posted in a while .. I've been busy with court stuff and getting kids out of school for the summer. I've been busily crocheting though .. and have several things done ... I tested a puppy dog pattern for a talented designer on Crochetville. I tested a set of butterfly wings for another talented designer on the same site ... I've crocheted a Seraphina shawl for myself in HomeSpun Gothic, and am currently making a round ripple afghan for my baby sister .. she's having her first baby in September. I'm also working on gifts for my soon to be three year old's birthday in two weeks. Busy, busy, busy.

Interesting tag ....

I saw this on a good friend's blog and borrowed it ... it fits the mood I am in today.

I AM: very introverted.
I WANT: to own my own home one day.
I WISH: I weren't afraid all the time.
I HATE: abusers who blame their victims.
I MISS: being happy and having fun.
I FEAR: losing myself.
I HEAR: the song stuck in my head.
I WONDER: if I will ever find true love.
I REGRET: not studying harder in school.
I AM NOT: confident in myself.
I DANCE: only when I am alone.
I SING: where no one can hear me.
I CRY: very rarely, I don't remember how.
I AM NOT ALWAYS: in a good mood.
I MAKE WITH MY HANDS: art of all forms.
I WRITE: bad poetry.
I CONFUSE: myself sometimes.
I NEED: a real vacation.
I SHOULD: lose some weight.
I START: my day with coffee.
I FINISH: what I start.
I TAG: you.

I just walked across the street to get myself a raspberry mocha frap from the Starbuck's. My girlfriend was sitting here with my kids so that I could get out of the house alone for once LOL .. as I was coming up the front walk, I went to step over some of the kids' toys on the porch stairs, and missed the top step. I fell forward, spilled my frap and twisted my ankle ... Guess that means I'll have to sit down for a few days, rest my ankle and crochet
I started the Seraphina shawl today in Homespun Gothic with an L hook .. I'm up to row 7 ... I'll post photo's later. I'm loving this pattern!! I was going to post the link to the shawl pattern, but when I click the link I have saved .. I just get a blank page. If the page starts working again ... I'll link you to her site.
Okay, I'm off to rest and crochet ... later.

Friday Morning Blahs

Blah! Its Friday morning ... and naturally, we wake up to gray skies and chilly weather. Such a disappointment after the past three days of sunshine and 80 degree temperatures >sigh<>
Question ... has anyone used the thread hooks with the large handles? I am having problems doing threadwork for any length of time, as my hands and fingers beging to ache. I was wondering if the larger handled thread hooks were comfortable to use.
Okay .. time to put the ribs and bbq sauce in the crockpot, get my shower and head out to the library, since I didn't go yesterday. Have a wonderful crochet day!

Thursday stuff

I've been working on a shrug for my older daughter's birthday at the end of the month .. her's is being crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver in Watercolor .. I love the colors in this yarn! It is coming out very pretty .. I'm just trying to figure out which lace pattern to use on her's, as I don't want the pattern of the lace to be overwhelmed by the multi colors in the yarn. Thankfully I have until the end of the month to try different lace patterns until I find the right one.

Went to the mailbox today and found the two books I won on Ebay waiting for me!! The Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches, and The Knitter's Bible! I'm so excited, I love these books and now I OWN them .. I don't have to borrow them from the library anymore!! Yay Me ! LOL

Okay ... the little one is down for her nap ... its time for me to go clean the living room up , take my shower and sit and crochet till the older kids come home from school. Take care and happy crocheting!

Hi There

Hi there ... and how is everyone today? Me... I'm doing fine .. just finished re-doing the lace work on my daughter's shrug! YAY! Only took about 4 hours to frog, rewind the yarn, adjust the sleeve sizing and then recrochet the lace work. Not bad at all ... The entire shrug only took about 14 hours to crochet, but that was over a 4 day period while taking care of kids and a house. Here are the before and after pictures of her in her new shrug. The two pictures up top are before re working .. and the two bottom pictures are after re working the lace rounds ... I like how it came out after re-working, what do you think?
